Drops Paris (50g/75m, 100% cotton)

THE Drops Paris yarn made entirely of cotton one of my favorites and among others my design material. I was looking for this yarn thickness and type for a very long time before I finally found the ideal one. I used Scheepjes Cahlista for a long time, but my favorite local yarn shop stopped selling it and I had to order it. I saw this yarn on one of the Instagram pages, that the person used it for the PicaPau figurines. I liked the figure and the yarn so much, I thought I'd give it a try, just in case! And I don't mind I love it! It's still one of my favorite yarns, almost all of my PicaPau figures are made from it, and I ended up loving it so much that I used it for designs too – and not only for body parts! Typically, anyway from Nordfonal I used to order them, but as I watched, more and more people realized how great this brand and this specific type is. So it's worth checking out if you liked this thread.
This yarn has a medium thickness, i.e. you can also find it called aran or worsted weight yarn in the English literature. Thicker than the Schachenmayr Catania yarn, so bigger games can be made from it. I usually do I use it with a 3 mm needle, but +/- 0.5 mmcan also be used with a needle. What I really like about the yarn manufacturer is that it takes care of sustainability and stands up for slow fashion. You can find out more about this on their website find out in English (or using automatic translation in any language)
In the following, I will share with you what I think are the advantages and disadvantages of this yarn.

PRO

🔘  The first and most important – especially for products made for babies – is that It has OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100 certification, which means it can be used especially for babies and toddlerska products made from them, so can be safely given to babies a toy, a dress, or anything made of yarn!

🔘 Its component 100% cotton, so it can be a great choice for those who are fans of naturalness!

🔘 Since I've been using it, I love it more and more. I think so it is easy to work with, it does not become fibrous and you can get a very nice surface at the end. I would gladly recommend it to beginners who are bored of Catania and would like to row on other waters.

🔘 Available in many colors, I can say with almost 100% certainty that there is no color that cannot be obtained from it. When I receive my package and excitedly open it to see what the yarn looks like in real life, it has never disappointed me!

🔘 In the end result - depending on the pattern - we get a larger figure (compared to the thin yarn)

🔘 It does not tear during sewing, it withstands stress well. You can pull, pull, handle more roughly and it won't break, or it will only break.

🔘 I think so the finished toy will be soft from it. At least it's softer than the toy made from its mercerized counterparts. In particular, it loosens up a bit over time and thus relaxes even more.

CONS

🔘 It feels very stiff when crocheting. At first crochet it seemed very hard and he cut my hand many times. This could also be attributed to my technique.

🔘 It doesn't slide as much on the crochet hook (which could be a positive thing), me I crochet more slowly with it, such as. with chenille or mercerized cotton.

🔘 It is often difficult to sew with it. My problem here is not the tearing, but the hardness of the yarn. My fingers rub off while sewing. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone whose hands are cut by cotton yarn anyway.

🔘 Although its surface is soft, you can still feel that it is one harder yarnit's about. This, in turn, lends durability to the toys.

OVERALL

It is my favorite among the cotton yarns. I really like its size, the fact that it has the ratings and that it can be washed at 60 °C - which is not an insignificant feature for a child's toy - and for these reasons it ranks first among other yarns of a similar size and category. The brand's approach to sustainable development also weighs heavily on my mind, not to mention that their other products also look wonderful. So far, I've only tried their Cotton Merino and Muskat yarns, but I'm sure I'll try something else in the future!

💬 Note: This is just my opinion—others may find this yarn perfect for completely different reasons. I shared my personal experiences in this blog post.
