"Book, pen, ink, pencil, I'm tearing it apart, school is starting, I'm just telling you..." as well as the nursery school. We still enjoy the summer heat, the beach, trips, the children the break, the adults the freedom, and we are not yet willing to allow the thought of in a month, nursery school, kindergarten and school will start. At the same time, busy weekdays are also returning. It is worth taking advantage of the remaining free time and sunshine, spending the time as experience-rich as possible, so that on cloudy autumn days we can return to the summer experiences in our imagination.

September is slowly approaching and school is starting. Who is excited, who is less looking forward to the start of the school year, be it parent or child. Especially for those families where the child starts first grade this year, there will be more news. We have collected some tips that can help you adapt to school life.
TIP 1: Daily schedule
THE educations, we also explained the importance of daily routinet, it's the same it is also true for schoolchildren. In the summer, the daily schedule of families and children is more relaxed than during the year. Getting up in the morning can be a bit late, and we are often more permissive when going to bed in the evening, "because it's still light", the children say too. Not only for first graders, but anit is also important for older children to start "getting used to" the school schedule before school starts. This can make it easier to get up early and get ready starting in September. Sleep plays a key role in children's lives, determines their performance, concentration, and behavior. If the child sleeps enough, it is already half the success.
TIP 2: Talk to the children
He's just starting school let's talk about school with children, and even about our own school experiences. It is important for a child to know what to expect at the institution, what happens there, what the teachers are called, what the school is like, who will be there. If we can, we can walk towards the school building, then we can look at the yard, if we can, we can show the building of the future classroom. We allow the child to ask his questions, and if he has concerns, we listen to him and take him seriously. Knowledge provided for the child and information increases your sense of security and reduces anxiety. During the conversations, let's talk about your feelings.
Let's talk about school with your child who is already in school, about possible changes and how this academic year will be different from the previous one. For example, what kind of specialization would you like to attend, which sport would you like to try, etc. Let's look for the positive aspects of starting school.
TIP 3: Independence
The development of independence it doesn't happen overnight, it's a process we build it over the years during child rearing. We can strengthen children's experience of competence by letting them try, we entrust them with smaller tasks. If they fail at something, we can emphasize the importance of trying and praise the child's persistence. Being able to do something on their own makes children happy and motivated. It is worth listening to the children's thoughts and opinions. Even asking for their opinion about their own work, drawing, or construction, asks them why they did what they did in the process. Let's base it on that ability to self-reflecteat. We motivate them to think about a problem situation, what solution options they have. In addition to independence, be present as parents if help is needed. This does not mean that we do things for him, such as packing or getting dressed, but that we make a compromise with him, discuss with him what he undertakes from the given activity and what he needs help with. For example, he puts on his t-shirt while getting dressed, let us help him with socks. What should he pack in his bag, what else should we put in it. During school life let's encourage you to ask for help there too either from the teacher or his friend.
Let's highlight it in communication with the child the importance of cooperation. The child is also an important part of the family and the community. In the long run, it is a great advantage if our child learns to cooperate with others and will also be able to represent his own thoughts and opinions.
TIP 4: Individual decisions
When purchasing school supplies let's give our child space to help choose your bag, pen holder, pencils, notebooks. These decisions strengthen the child feeling of control and the preparation becomes more personal for him too. Let's give her a chance to choose her clothes for the first (most future) day of school.
TIP 5: Take a little from home with you
Separation from parents can be difficult, especially in first grade, from the unknown or because of a situation that is still foreign to him. School children don't usually take their childhood temporary items with them anymore (it happens from time to time), but these are them familiar things that "smell like home and security" can significantly reduce their anxiety, their tensions. After discussing with the children, you can put one in their bag picture of the family, so that when you go through difficult moments at school, you don't feel alone. Or something small, e.g. jointly selected gravel, shells, etc. anything that represents a sense of security.
+1 TIP for starting school: Game and story
It is also good at the beginning of the school year to tell the children stories related to school life.. In today's children's literature, you can find many good books that it makes it easier to get used to the idea of school. Among our favorites is Eszter Czernák's Sárkányovi series, which also has books for first grade, as well as Adrien Vadadi's Leszel a padtársam, which can introduce 6-7 year olds to the mysteries of school days. For the child has an anti-anxiety effect if they can or want to play schoolboy even with parents or peers.
The starting school is a big change for children coming from kindergarten, which requires even more adaptation than the previous institution. As parents, let's try asto create our own and our child's emotional safety, to get through the initial period. Let's make sure that during the school year we devote enough time to rest and quality time together, as well as give space to individual recharge. As parents, it is also important to find recharge in everyday life, with which we can reduce our anxiety due to changed circumstances.
