I first came across Ines’s pattern during her testing call, and I immediately fell in love with this beautiful sea turtle. I applied to be a tester, but over 1,000 crocheters signed up to test this sea turtle pattern, so I applied with the calm acceptance that my chances were slim. As expected, unfortunately, I wasn’t selected as a tester. Still, this amazing pattern kept lingering in my mind and wouldn’t let me go. For weeks, all I could do was admire it from afar due to our chaotic life, until I finally decided that not only I, but one of my best friends also deserved to have such a beautiful turtle. It took me weeks to finish — as I mentioned, life ha

About the crochet pattern
Coty Loop crochet pattern – not just for a beginner – It may seem scary at first glance, however, while crocheting, you can feel how much time and energy the designer has invested in making this plushie so that anyone can make it. First, some provides interesting facts about the false turtles, about this iconic sea animal – if not from anywhere else, then everyone may be familiar with it from the cartoon Finding Nemo. What was incredibly new to me was that This pattern highlights when to crochet a particular section normally/or more tightly, and when to crochet it very loosely. This was probably the biggest difficulty for me, as I basically crochet incredibly tightly, so it was a big challenge to crochet loosely. It was nice to see that others are also striving for practical digital use, so in Ines's pattern you can jump to the given chapter with links, just like you are used to in my patterns. This was especially practical for me, as I always only had to click on the chapter title where I was, without having to start endless scrolling in the already voluminous pattern. Yes, This pattern is over 40 pages long! And I have to say that the pages are fully utilized. The designer provides many practical comments and useful advice, so that the crocheter can make this super cute turtle. She also thought of everything: suggestions for left-handed people, two types of belly and it really is a thousand and one good pieces of advice! However, the basic requirement is that you know English. It's not enough to understand English signs, you also need to be able to interpret the text, because Often, cardinal questions are written, and if you don't prepare it correctly, you may end up disappointed. Although I think translation programs can help, I still think a basic knowledge of English is recommended.
What do you need? Two sizes of needles, two colors of thicker yarn and 3 colors of thinner yarn. The pattern is basically written on chenille yarn. (there is an additional modification for thicker blanket yarn!), but I saw that some people made it with cotton yarn. Similar to my patterns, If you are not using the specified yarn, you may need to look for a matching yarn. For a medium yarn, choose a thin yarn, and for a thin yarn, choose an even thinner (lace-like) yarn. If you need help, Cotton instead of chenille - vice versa my article can help you find the ideal yarn. At the beginning of the pattern, the designer provided some visual help, showing techniques that need to be applied throughout the pattern to get the end result that we see in the picture.
After this, the crocheter can start making the turtle. First the turtle's shell is made, The designer shows how it is built, which part goes where and most importantly, how to put it together. Cotyloop recommends using lots of eyeliner, which is very practical for this pattern. I don't like it, so I don't have it at home very much. When I understood the designer's logic, I stopped marking the scales and only looked for the relevant stitches when crocheting. The next time I crochet a turtle, I'll definitely crochet the little scales together right away, so I don't have to pack them up and think about who is with whom now. But of course the pattern was written this way so that guide you step by step in the preparation, so it is advisable to proceed as suggested by the pattern at first. When you first start the scales compilationI came to this part on such a tired evening that I put it aside. But when I sat down to it again, I realized that there was nothing devilish about it, in fact I gained fantastic knowledge., which I can use to crochet the granny squares for my next temperature blanket! When it's done We can say that the turtle's shell is difficult - perhaps - we are over it, but it's far from ready! The headI struggled with it, I don't know why, since there's nothing extra in it, but I still had to disassemble it about 4 times because I had to settle something (I wrote this off as fatigue). Then come the turtle fins, which are so cute. I really like the whole design, with a truly lifelike solution You can also meet the crocheter in this section.
What I really liked was that there’s no sewing required! Everything is crocheted together, and the only parts that need to be sewn on according to the pattern are the eyes. The pattern really shows step by step how to attach first the heads and the tail, then the flippers, and finally how to crochet on the belly. For the belly part, the pattern offers two options: one is a simple tummy, the other has a pocket where the turtle’s eggs or little turtles can be placed, so this soft, fluffy animal can also be incorporated into role-playing games.
Finally, the eyes need to be made, and I found the designer’s solution in the pattern really charming, as it makes this beautiful design baby-safe. I believe the character of the figure is greatly influenced by the design and sewing technique of the eyes, and for me, this was one of the most challenging parts. As I mentioned, the eyes strongly define the overall look, so it really matters how they are embroidered or crafted. Although I usually embroider the eyes on toys, I really like this method as well! After sewing on the eyes, the designer provides a few useful tips for shaping the head. Finally, you end up with an incredibly detailed and beautiful sea turtle.
Me It was a great experience to crochet, I gained knowledge with many new techniques and experienced the making of this figure as a real challenge. Similar, in my opinion more puritanical turtle designs can be found for free on YouTube or elsewhere, however This pattern really gives advanced crocheters the same experience as you had as a beginner. After all parts are completed I fell in love with the figure more and more and couldn't wait to finally see it in person. I was overcome with immense pride when I could still see it without eyes, but the final result completely captivated me.
I wholeheartedly recommend this pattern to everyone, as it offers countless options, possibilities, and knowledge. Moreover, I am sure that if anyone makes figures to sell, this one is a guaranteed hit, a best seller! I can hardly wait to hand it over to its rightful owner, but I’m sure my friend Julcsi will be just as thrilled with it. One thing’s for sure: this won’t be the last turtle I make, as my kids immediately placed an order for their own!
