It's a really good hobbyI think it's hard to find, but when you find each other, there's nothing better. It's like love: all day long, all your thoughts revolve around him, you can't wait to spend time with him and you see him in everything. Well, those who like to crochet know what I'm talking about, but then below You have listed 9+1 reasons why I consider crocheting to be a good hobby!

1. Cause: Turns off

Crocheting can completely turn off your brain. After a tiring or difficult day, people want nothing more than to break away from the gray everyday life and wander into another world. Starting a new figure or continuing a crocheted garment is the perfect opportunity for this. When a person counts the eyes, focuses, the outside light around him completely disappears. Many times, after crocheting, one sees the day and the problems that have arisen in a completely different light.

Reason 3: Meditative activity

Crocheting is a series of repeated movements and the high degree of concentration puts the crocheter in a meditative state. Many crocheters proclaim that crochet is my yoga, as this hobby can turn off the mind and recharge the soul. While crocheting, when I count the stitches and my attention is fully focused, I can only fully experience the Flow experience of crocheting. Many times I just crochet and crochet the rows, and I don't even notice that 1-2 hours have passed. Only the result shows that more and more body parts surround me, if you know what I mean. 😀

5. REASON: You get pleasure

Primarily for yourself, how beautiful you have created, all you needed was one (or more) skeins of yarn and a crochet hook. On the other hand, you also bring joy to the person you are making it for, since based on my experience, most of the time people crochet not for themselves, but for others. And this pursuit of pleasure makes you happy too. Planning, on the other hand, has an additional side of pleasure, as I am happy with the crocheter who proudly shares his creation with me, I am happy that he liked what I came up with and the person who will receive the crocheted toy is also happy. Is it really a huge, invisible chain of joy connecting the whole world, or is it a thread? Who knows 😉

Reason 7: You can be a child again

Especially after making amigurumi, but after creating another work (even a drawing or a cake), I feel the same feeling I had when I finished a really beautiful drawing as a child. You are satisfied with what you have made, even if you see its flaws, but you know that you created it and there is no other like it in the world. I honestly rejoice after the completion of each animal, I honestly fall in love with all of them, I close them in my heart. At such times, I always feel like the little girl I was when I was a child and I can once again surrender myself to my passion for plush toys. In addition, we adults are often strict with ourselves, so at least in this area we allow ourselves to make mistakes more easily, because we know that we will learn from them. Even the children.

Reason 9: You are a member of a community

In my opinion, this was especially important during Kovid, when people could not meet physically, but could keep in touch online. I dare to say that it helped many people get through this difficult period that they found each other through crochet earlier or later, and thus became part of a large crochet community. Besides, you can meet a lot of interesting people through this hobby. It is a great pleasure for me that I got to know many different people in the world who are lovers of that hobby, but live on the other side of the planet. The social nature of the crochet events is also excellently shown, such as the Crochet Along (CAL) events, i.e. the crochet challenges, or the various games organized by the crochet pattern designers. I am glad to be part of this great community. You are my crochet family.

Reason 2: Upload

What turns you off is likely to charge you at the same time. Finding opportunities to recharge is a very important pillar of self-care, as it is much easier to cope with the tasks and situations in front of us. For me, half an hour spent crocheting is a guaranteed recharge. This is my everyday me-time, my self-care, which I don't like to give up and if I can, I don't!

Reason 4: The joy of creation

The joy of creating is important for adults as well, not just for children. We can best express our feelings, ourselves and who we really are through creations. This is confirmed for me every time, since I have never made two completely identical games, even if the pattern was the same. The pictures of toys made from my samples also give me the feeling that the other party is letting a small but very important part of themselves be seen. I believe that through my creations and the games I design, I can show small pieces of my soul to people who don't know me personally.

6. REASON: It strengthens your self-confidence

The positive feedback you receive about your creations, as well as the fact that you see better and better creations coming out of your hands every day, and that you are constantly improving, strengthen your self-confidence. These small crumbs of happiness, which this hobby can give a person, not only give you more confidence in crocheting, but also make it easier to believe that you are capable of achieving something in other areas of life.

8. Reason: It is not bound to place and time

This is one of the best features of this hobby, that it can be cultivated even if it is raining, blowing, sweltering summer heat or a huge blizzard outside. You can actually crochet anytime, anywhere, as long as you have your project bag and crochet hook with you. Actually, I think that those who crochet typically try to fill even the 5-minute idle time with this, if they have the means and the opportunity. You can crochet on the beach, on the bus, while traveling in the car, or while your child is doing his special activity or taking his afternoon nap. It can be at dawn or at night, who prefers which. This hobby can fit into almost any lifestyle, and that's what's great about it.

+1 OK: You will get better at math

If you've had trouble with multiplication, division, addition or subtraction in your head, crocheting is guaranteed to help you do better. At least I have no problem listing the multiples of 6 up to at least 100. Making mistakes also helps you improve your math skills! After all, if you have accounted for yourself, then finding the error is equivalent to solving a complicated, multivariable mathematical equation. I'm not lying, there was a time when I struggled with crocheting a row for half an hour before I realized that the mistake was 3 rows lower 😂 You see, crocheting is guaranteed to improve logic and problem-solving skills! After that, any crocheter tells me that they hate math! On a side note, I think I also fell in love with crochet because of my love for mathematics. After all, it is so logical, consistent and often there is only one formula to reach the solution you want.
