The last article of Advent Crochet was brought to us by Boog Amigurumi with a very sweet, DIY nut shell mouse. As we are used to from Bogi, he always comes up with some special project or idea, which happened this time as well. The creation of the nut shell mouse was inspired by a Pinterest image and the walnut tree in their own yard, which also provides the raw material. The head part can be made from fabric or crocheted, which Boog's amigurumi article will help you with! In the blog article, you can find a sewing pattern and a crochet pattern to create your own little nut shell mouse, which can be put on the Christmas tree or in a doorknocker, but such a tiny mouse can also take a nap in the doll house of older girls.
This little mouse reminds me of the variety of handmade ornaments. I have been promising myself for years that I would make crocheted decorations for the tree, but unfortunately, due to lack of time, it could not be realized until now. This year, I hope that I can expand our collection with at least one crocheted ornament, if not by much, or hang another handmade Christmas tree ornament on our own tree during the holidays. These unique ornaments make every family tree special and give it a sense of intimacy. I remember as a child I had favorite ornaments that I always wanted to hang on the tree, and in the evenings I admired them while hunting for candy. It was something magical to look at these decorations as a child, I often made up a story in my head around each ornament, wondering where they went and what they did until Christmas came. When I was growing up, I was confused by the chosen donuts, that they were not uniform and not as precisely measured as in the American Christmas movies, however, as an adult and as a mother, I can appreciate our own Christmas tree decorations and their uniqueness. I try to add one new piece to our decorations every year, preferably I always choose some kind of handmade decoration, thereby supporting the small businesses of people who, like me, live from their creativity or create by hand. After all, it is a really good feeling not only to receive, but also to give.
With these closing thoughts, I would like to end my own Advent Crochet and I hope my recommendations have made you want to read and look at the articles of other Hungarian Amigurumi Designers. I hope your preparation for Advent was as rich in memories and creations as ours! As an introduction to the Advent season, don't forget to make the cute little nut shell mouse brought by Boog amigurumi, which can even be a wedge for your Christmas tree this year!
