Alize Softy Baby (50g/115m, 100% micropolyester)

I've been wanting to try this type of yarn for a long time, but I've always been a bit apprehensive about it. Because of its hairiness, I feared - rightfully so - that the yarn would be difficult to handle, the eyes difficult to see, but I couldn't resist its fluffiness. My very first game made from this is my latest free pattern Fiji, the sensory game was, so I could experience the heights and depths of this yarn.

Before embarking on this project, I asked Szilvi, a Sylvee's Crochet Patternfrom, as I saw that designed a super cute monkey with this yarn. Fortunately provided with some good professional advice and I dared to jump into the project! However, I did have problems while crocheting. I first started with a 2.5 mm needle, but it turned out to be too tight for me and I didn't see/perceive the eyes at all, like that On Szilvi's advice, I switched to 3 mm which was easier to work with. Finally, after crocheting the first ball, I decided to for extra texture - which is not bad for a sensory game - rather Boog amigurumi I use the circular crochet technique, which is a I read the furry/eyelash yarns in your blog regarding.

In the following, I will share with you what I think are the advantages and disadvantages of this yarn.

PRO

🔘 The first and most important - especially for products made for babies - It has OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100 certification, which means it can be used especially for babies and toddlersand products made from them.

🔘 A softest yarn I've ever worked with, I think the end result is very sweet and amazing, what is made of it, a kids love your material.

🔘 A huge selection of colors can be found from it, so also ideal for making amigurumi

🔘 There is also a thicker version of it Alile Baby Softy Plus (100g/120m), so you can even try out patterns written on chenille yarns to get a similar result in size. The Alize Softy Mega (100g/70m) already a thicker version, it looks more like chenille yarns than its furry counterparts.

🔘 Very good value for money. It was also surprising to me at what a good price it can be obtained, and I think that a figure comes out of it much cheaper than with chenille.

🔘 A I can't really share my sewing experiences, as only the circle had to be closed, however I think it is a durable yarn! In the test crochet I broke it down many times – because I crocheted completely blind – and the yarn remained usable throughout. I think this is largely due to the fact that hairs are held by a strong thread, which does not break easily. Of course, fluff fell here and there during the demolition, but his baldness was nowhere near as catastrophic as that of the genials. From this point of view, this type of yarn can definitely be handled better.

CONS

🔘 It is not made of natural material, so those who are allergic to its material, or who only want to use yarn of natural origin for their babies, should look for another alternative.

🔘 What else (usually, that also for all hairy/eyelash/fluffy/chenille yarns) drawback: it's hard to make a magic circle with it. If you need a little help, look at Boog's amigurumi blog post, where you will get useful advice for getting started.

🔘 Another disadvantage of yarn is that it is almost impossible to see the eyes. Yet gives the lesson to more experienced crocheters as well. I think crocheting with this yarn is one adds a really new, exciting segment to this hobby, so if you are tired of routine projects, you should definitely try them. With this yarn, you can feel like a beginner crocheter again, who doesn't even know where the front and back are, where the eyes are, whether there are front and back threads at all. So it was both annoying to crochet with it and challenging that I was going to crochet with it in the marc sense. Naturally when I finished the crochet, I was completely satisfied, so it was worth the fatigue and blind crocheting.

If you want to try it yourself, I recommend it Fiji free crochet pattern, or if you were to try a yarn with longer hair then Boog amigurumi is not at all stingy free hedgehog crochet pattern. Once you've got the hang of it, you can start more complex projects, even lifelike dog patterns like this one Niki's Craft Mina's dog too.

OVERALL

This yarn really has a lot of excitement, I think that it is definitely worth trying it once during our crocheting career. When crocheting with furry yarn you can visit both hell and finally heaven, if you are persistent enough with it. As with all yarns of this nature, if you feel like it on how to break into this game, sure one figure after another can already go pik-pakk. So I definitely recommend this test to those who are adventurous!
