Retwisst Amigurumi (50g/75m, 80% cotton, 20% polyester)
The ReTwisst brand, as the name suggests (respun), is a yarn brand that makes its products from recycled textiles. The company established in 2011 brought a new perspective to the textile industry with its recycling approach, during which no chemical processes are used. Most products are like that they are created from textile remains, which had never been used before. The raw material is mostly supplied by the manufacturers of the world's most famous brands, which are later sorted according to quality during the production of ReTwisst yarns and create their own yarns. The company makes approx. It processes 6,500,000 kg of fabric, during which the primary consideration is not to waste the Earth's resources, to use them as efficiently as possible during the procedural processes, and to protect the environment in the process. During the production process, there is no chemical dyeing process and no water is used for recycling (thus saving about 52 million tons of water for the world every year).
I considered the presentation of the brand to be important in this case, as I believe that this can also be an aspect when purchasing yarn. As many of you already know, sustainable development, environmental protection and the conscious use of the world's resources are very important to me, so not only this yarn, but also the brand is extremely likeable. Fortunately, there are more and more environmentally conscious large companies in our world, so I am very happy that I can find a manufacturer that is fully committed to this approach, even in connection with my hobby. Retwisst among others cord yarns, also deals in the production of T-shirt yarns. ReTwisst Amigurumi yarn has been renamed by the manufacturer, now sold under the name Slim Cotton, its composition differs only minimally from the previous version (70% cotton, 25% polyester, 5% other recycled fabric), however, they are sold in larger balls (100g / 150m). For both versions the manufacturer recommends a 3-4 mm crochet hook.
In the following, I will share with you what I think are the advantages and disadvantages of this yarn.

PRO
🔘 What I think is a huge advantage of this yarn is that produced by the manufacturer from recycled fabric, so I can wholeheartedly recommend not only this yarn, but also the manufacturer's other products to anyone who is a fan of environmental protection and sustainable development and would like to take this into account in their hobby.
🔘 The yarn is very soft to the touch. Perhaps based on my experience so far, it is one of the softest I have come across.
🔘 The texture of the finished product is particularly beautiful and the end result will be very soft compared to other cotton yarns.
🔘 A huge selection of colors can be found from it, so also ideal for making amigurumi. With a total of 24 colors, you can make not only amigurumi, but also any other crocheted object. I think your colors are stunning!
🔘 A it can be easily mixed with peers of similar thickness in a project. I have used this thread before Scheepjes with Cahlista and Drops Paris, the difference is almost imperceptible, so it can be a super complementary yarn for a project.
🔘 The price-value ratio is very good, you can get it at a similar price to the two mentioned brands - maybe at least a little cheaper.
CONS
🔘 Unfortunately I did not find any information that it has OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100 certification, so I cannot recommend this yarn for crocheting baby products. In the case of children over 3 years old - where there is less chance of continuous chewing - this yarn can be used to make amigurumi, toys or other decorative objects.
🔘 Made of non-natural material in 100%, so those who are allergic to its material, or who only want to use yarn of natural origin for their babies, should look for another alternative.
🔘 This kind belongs to the untwisted yarns, so it is easier for the needle to get stuck in it when crocheting, as with other cotton yarns. For this reason, it is more difficult to crochet with a smaller needle, it requires more attention or more experience. If you still like the yarn, you should try it with a larger needle or with a different type of crochet project, e.g. bag, bathroom storage or you can even try the free tissue holder crochet pattern too.
🔘 It does not stand up to sewing as well as other cotton yarns. Compared to Drops Paris, it tears much more easily, so this can cause problems when sewing amigurumi.
OVERALL
Overall, I consider it good and this thread, although I think it is likely I would rather choose something else for amigurumi in this thickness. However with a larger crochet hook size, I would like to make a utility item from this yarn, decorative object, as it has such beautiful colors! In addition A constant plus point for me is the company's approach to production, so in the future, if not necessarily for amigurumi, I will definitely use this yarn for something else!
